{"id":29205,"date":"2024-06-05T08:38:43","date_gmt":"2024-06-05T08:38:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/alliedforces.eu\/?p=29205"},"modified":"2024-06-05T08:38:44","modified_gmt":"2024-06-05T08:38:44","slug":"review-barbarian-swords-fetid-2024","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/alliedforces.eu\/en\/review-barbarian-swords-fetid-2024\/","title":{"rendered":"Barbarian Swords: Fetid (2024, Base Record Production)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/BarbarianSwords\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Barbarian Swords<\/a><\/strong> is back in the smelly quagmire from which they emerged with a new full-length of putrid nihilistic black\/doom under their belt, the putrid <strong><em>Fetid <\/em><\/strong>that was released a little over a month ago through <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/BaseRecordProduction\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Base Record Production<\/a><\/strong>. There are no line-up changes in a band that set the bar high a year ago with the notable <strong><em>Anti-Dogma Megaforce<\/em><\/strong> that was then distributed by its vocalist&#8217;s label, <strong>Eternal Juggernaut Records<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Despite the few changes that have occurred within the band, <strong>Barbarian Swords<\/strong> has decided to turn its sound towards the original black\/doom of its first albums, leaving aside the whoring thug of the excellent <strong><em>Totemic Anal Turbofucker<\/em><\/strong> (2019, Third I Rex) and the aforementioned <strong><em>Anti-Dogma Megaforce<\/em><\/strong> that continue to stand as his two most interesting works in his already interesting career. Ten years separate Fetid from their debut album <strong><em>Hunting Rats<\/em><\/strong> (2014, Blood Fire Death) although the band&#8217;s progression becomes more than evident when the dark and dense <strong><em>Cherokee Firestorm<\/em><\/strong> comes into action. The Barcelona trio puts all the meat on the grill with heavy and forceful riffs where the guitars of <strong>Steamroller <\/strong>and <strong>Panzer <\/strong>introduce us to the sinister atmosphere that only <strong>Von P\u00e4x<\/strong>&#8216;s voice is capable of portraying with its soulless gutturals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Six songs make up one of the greatest works that <strong>Barbarian Swords<\/strong> has produced to date with a total duration of just over forty-five minutes where anarchy reigns everywhere and takes no prisoners, resulting in a musical utopia that shows the total decline and absolute of a decadent society that has fallen into disrepair, as the band makes clear in the brutal <strong><em>Genocidal Theogony<\/em><\/strong> where the Catalan trio attacks all religions without mercy, destroying everything in its path in a morbid exercise in musical annihilation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe title=\"Barbarian Swords - Genocidal Theogony (new song)\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/iDMSbpXB9Wk?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The most interesting thing that <strong>Barbarian Swords<\/strong> has achieved with <strong><em>Fetid <\/em><\/strong>is to bring together a very interesting amount of infernal riffs that develop slowly but that penetrate deeply as if a disease were taking over the listener.
