{"id":28375,"date":"2024-02-09T06:38:05","date_gmt":"2024-02-09T06:38:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/alliedforces.eu\/?p=28375"},"modified":"2024-02-12T08:22:11","modified_gmt":"2024-02-12T08:22:11","slug":"cold-years-new-album-a-different-life","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/alliedforces.eu\/en\/cold-years-new-album-a-different-life\/","title":{"rendered":"Cold Years announce their new album \u00abA Different Life\u00bb"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Cold Years<\/strong> have recently announched that their new album <strong><em>A Different Life <\/em><\/strong>is set to be released on Friday, April 26 release, a brand new chapter in the rising Scottish rock quartet&#8217;s via <strong>MNRK UK<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Recorded at <strong>The Barber Shop Studios<\/strong> in New Jersey by producer <strong>Brett Romnes<\/strong> (Anxious, Hot Mulligan, Boston Manor, The Movielife), <em><strong>A Different Life<\/strong><\/em> follows <strong><em>Paradise<\/em><\/strong>, the band&#8217;s 2020 politically-charged look at life in their hometown of Aberdeen, and 2022&#8217;s soaring &amp; musically daring follow-up, <strong><em>Goodbye To Misery<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Packed with songs that are both intensely personal and universally relatable, <strong><em>A Different Life<\/em><\/strong> is led by <strong><em>Roll With It<\/em><\/strong>, a scorching, socially-charged punk rock anthem with an infectious chorus that feels like it&#8217;s been bubbling in your veins forever. \u00ab<em>Life is not an easy thing to contend with<\/em>\u00ab, says frontman <strong>Ross Gordon<\/strong>. \u00ab<em>Between long hours of working your ass off, trying to see family and friends and having the occasional self-destructive streak, sometimes it&#8217;s natural to want more. It&#8217;s an incredibly difficult balance to get right, but with their third full-length, Aberdeen&#8217;s <strong>Cold Years<\/strong> have done just that. Because from the moment <strong><em>A Different Life<\/em><\/strong> blasts off with the pounding beat of opener <strong><em>Over<\/em><\/strong> \u2014 a riotous punk anthem about removing a toxic person from your life \u2014 this album manages to make sense of a world that&#8217;s lost most of it. Simultaneously, it also feels like the record you&#8217;ve been waiting for to fill the void in your life for your entire life. You can feel it in these songs. That&#8217;s something the band \u2014 <strong>Ross Gordon<\/strong> (vocals\/guitar), <strong>Finlay Urquhart<\/strong> (guitar), <strong>Louis Craighead<\/strong> (bass) and new drummer <strong>Jimmy Taylor<\/strong> \u2014 noticed as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u00ab<em>This is the first time I&#8217;ve ever come out of a studio able to listen to the tracks, where, and I say this 100% with conviction, we went in and did everything we wanted to do and more<\/em>\u00ab, says <strong>Gordon<\/strong>. \u00ab<em>I&#8217;ve never done that. I&#8217;ve always come out feeling like we could have done something better or different. But this album changed the game for all of us as a band. We didn&#8217;t just do twelve tracks that sound the same. We tried to make things a little different. That happened naturally, and it&#8217;s the most musical experience I&#8217;ve ever had.
